I can’t express enough how much I endorse this movie. Go see it. The Coen Brothers knocked it out. It has a beautiful look, pitch perfect score, and character performances that just crush. I laughed harder than I have at any “comedy” in the last year. That said the film is also highly dramatic and tense. Hailee Steinfeld should certainly get a bunch of recognition from various organizations for tackling this tough enigmatic role. I can’t comment much to Jeff Bridges performance as Rooster Cogburn, more than to say he makes this type of character work seem completely natural while playing all sides of this complicated drunken braggart of big-hearted tough as nails lout. Mat Damon proves why he worth a shit by turning in a HILARIOUS performance as Texas Marshall LaBoeuf. Josh Brolin kills the several minutes he is on screen as the fugitive Tom Chaney. Beyond all of this though I will say that there is a scene stealing performance by Barry Pepper you transformed himself into the outlaw Lucky Ned Pepper.
Go see this movie and enjoy it.
